December LIVE CATTLE
I look to sell this market on a short term basis. We have seen some positive price action over the last 2 days but I fail to see continued demand which will be needed to drive this market higher. Uncertainty with east coast retail demand as well as individual consumer demand in the wake of the storm may limit any such support over the next week or so. Cash cattle prices were steady in Texas ($127.00) to $1.00 lower in Kansas ($126.00)
SELLING at 126.00 …last trade 125.95
- Risk will be 127.25 …($500.00)
- OBJ will be 123.50 …$1,000.00
Have a look:
THE RISK OF LOSS IN TRADING COMMODITY FUTURES AND OPTIONS CONTRACTS CAN BE SUBSTANTIAL. THERE IS A HIGH DEGREE OF LEVERAGE IN FUTURES TRADING BECAUSE OF SMALL MARGIN REQUIREMENTS. THIS LEVERAGE CAN WORK AGAINST YOU AS WELL AS FOR YOU AND CAN LEAD TO LARGE LOSSES AS WELL AS LARGE GAINS.
STOP ORDERS DO NOT NECESSARILY LIMIT YOUR LOSS TO THE STOP PRICE BECAUSE STOP ORDERS, IF THE PRICE IS HIT, BECOME MARKET ORDERS AND, DEPENDING ON MARKET CONDITIONS, THE ACTUAL FILL PRICE CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM THE STOP PRICE. IF A MARKET REACHED ITS DAILY PRICE FLUCTUATION LIMIT, A "LIMIT MOVE", IT MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE TO EXECUTE A STOP LOSS ORDER.
