Mullaney Investment Management, LLC (MIM) was founded in April 2005 by Michael Mullaney. Mullaney began trading stocks in 1991 but it wasn´t until he developed an option writing strategy in 1999 that he found his niche. Mullaney worked as a partner at accounting firm KPMG until 1990 when he became vice president of the tax department of insurance group Legal & General America Inc. In addition to his work and trading Mullaney coached his daughter´s high school and Amateur Athletic Union basketball teams. His passion for coaching led him to write a book on coaching girl´s basketball. In 2005 he moved from Maryland to Jacksonville, FL, and registered as a commodity trading advisor to trade his discretionary option writing strategy.
MIM currently offers two programs to investors, the Premium Program and Moderate Program. Both programs are similar in nature but the Moderate Program is designed to have less volatility and risk. The programs trade primarily the S&P 500 futures contract and options on the S&P 500 futures contract. MIM believes that specializing in one market and investment product provides an advantage. MIM primarily sells (writes) deep out-of-the-money options (puts and calls) on the S&P 500 futures contract. The positions are held until they expire, have yielded a reasonable profit, or it is determined that it is best to offset the option. After determining the likely market trading range, MIM uses various trading tactics and strategies depending upon the situation to execute its programs.
